How to Apply
2009-10


1. Get an application packet.

Application packets will be available for pick up beginning October 27 at any of the charter school campuses, the admissions office (1313 E. 60th Street, Suite 235).

2. Attend a campus information session.

Join us o Saturday, December 6 at the Little Black Pearl Art and Design Center, located at 1060 East 47th Street, from 9 am to 11 am for our all campus charter school fair. More information sessions will be announced.

3. Read the application instructions carefully.

The only eligibility requirement for applying to the University of Chicago Charter School is that the student must reside within the city of Chicago. However, preferences are given to siblings and students residing in the Donoghue, Woodson and/or Woodlawn attendance boundaries. Please read the Admissions Policy. If you are applying for prekindergarten for four year olds at North Kenwood/Oakland or Donoghue, then your child must be four-years-old by September 1, 2009. If you are applying for kindergarten at North Kenwood/Oakland or Donoghue, then your child must be five-years-old by September 1, 2009.

4. Gather your supporting documents.

All application packets to the University of Chicago Charter School must include: proof of Chicago residency and a photocopy of your child's birth certificate. Examples of proof of residency include: a utility bill, mortgage statement or apartment lease.

Note: If your child is admitted to a University of Chicago Charter School campus, you must show your child's original birth certificate.

5. Postmark your completed application packet by the March 7, 2009.

Complete application packets will only be accepted via postal mail. A complete application packet includes: (1) a signed application form, (2) proof of Chicago residence and (3) a photocopy of your child's birth certificate. All completed application packets must be postmarked by March 7, 2009. Late or incomplete application packets will not be considered.

Note: To insure receipt of your application, we suggest that you send your application packet via certified mail.
